Everything About The Xiaomi SU7 EV: Specs, Range, And Price

The Chinese tech company Xiaomi is well-known for its reasonably priced smartphones and other devices. Nevertheless, in response to the growing demand for electric vehicles, the business has unveiled two electric vehicles—the SU7 EV and the SU7 EV Max—to test the waters in the electric vehicle market. Design of the Xiaomi SU7

It seems like Xiaomi’s entry into the electric vehicle market will be a hybrid of sorts. The front headlights are reminiscent of McLarens, while the Porsche Taycan is the design influence for the rest of the vehicle. The SU7 EV is almost the same size as the Tesla Model S, with specifications of 4,997 mm for length, 1,963 mm for width, and 1,455 mm for height.

Just to give you an idea, a car’s aerodynamics are directly affected by its wind resistance rating. A lower number indicates greater range and speed performance.

Both versions have 517 liters of trunk space plus an extra 105 liters in the frunk when it comes to storage capacity.

Performance of the Xiaomi SU7

Performance and range were Xiaomi’s top priorities as they seek to unseat rivals such as Tesla. At around 2 tons, the base rear-wheel-drive SU7 EV has 299 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds.

In contrast, the 2.2-ton SU7 EV Max produces an astonishing 838 Nm of torque and 673 horsepower. The end result is an acceleration time of 2.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, which is faster than the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan. In addition, the vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 265 km/h.


The range was the main topic of discussion during Xiaomi’s presentation. The reason for this is because according to the manufacturer, the regular SU7 EV can reach a CLTC range of 600 km with a 73.6 kWh battery, while the maximum version, with a 101 kWh battery, offers an astounding 800 km.

The China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) is a more simplified evaluation of an EV’s range than the extensive WLTP testing, which examine it across a variety of circumstances and characteristics; yet, these figures are still impressive. Users may easily convert the CLTC range to WLTP by multiplying it by 0.82. According to this metric, the standard SU7 EV has a range of around 492 km, while the maximum model has a range of 656 km.

Powering on

Finding a suitable charger and then waiting for 30–40 minutes while the car charges may be a bit of a pain when compared to ICE cars. But Xiaomi boasts impressive numbers in this area: the SU7 EV Max can supposedly reach a 220 km range after just 5 minutes of charging. In addition, it is one of the quickest-charging cars available; a 15-minute charge may increase the range by around 500 miles.
